A look into my future, probably

"If you're not careful the newspapers will have you hating the people
who are being oppressed and loving the people who are
doing the oppressing"
                                                                 - Malcolm X

Oh, the journalists. Powerful creatures. They stay behind their computers and type little stories. Stories that present facts, facts that affect in a way or another most of us. They type, most of them having no idea as to how much they influence their readers minds and perspectives. A good journalist, working for a good newspaper, can have the same power as a preacher. He can dictate people's decisions, the way they see and judge the world around them.
So yeah, they are strong. Strong enough to make you see a dictator as a saviour, to make a victim feel like they are to blame for what happen to them.
And considering these factors what is the difference between a good journalist and a great one? In my opinion is the way you manage this power. You need to make sure that the facts you present are as true as possible. Your words are food for your readers minds.
As for me, the one that wants to become a journalist, I hope I'll manage to always stay true to myself and to write just the truth. I want to change the world, I want to make people see things as they really are, but I will never change the facts if i have a choice.
The newspapers are the daily bibles and the journalists are today's gods. Use that power carefully  or the people will suffer. XoXo,m.
